full armor

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

that's a good one. that's what I like about other countries, especially some place like Haiti. It feels like you actually need some armor!

anyways. i don't know what else to say. Haiti is soon and I think we're going again in October. 31st. maybe. not for sure yet.

oh yeah. support for our trip has been coming in and we're pretty close to what we need to get so that's exciting. i'm not sure if anyone reads this, but I'll write anyways so I can look back and read it and remember what life was like on this May 12, 2008. God totally provided this weekend because we needed money and people at our joint birthday party were very generous as well as my boss was also very generous. Woo hoo.

sometimes i worry about safety. everyone here, including in the church, just wants to be safe. i don't know where we got this idea of safety from and that it's what God wants. He wants us to proclaim the gospel and people to be saved. Someone commented that the poorest places and the places that need Jesus the most are the most unsafe. So should we not go there? This topic is probably one that I mull over the most just because I need to keep reaffirming in my head that it's not about me or my safety. I don't know what I would do in a situation where my life was threatened, but I just have to trust that God will take care of the situation just like He has taken care of me all this time. anyways time for bed.
